ITB and USTP to Collaborate in Research and Education

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id — Institut Teknologi Bandung and the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop research and academics at both universities. The signing took place online on April 16, 2025, by the ITB Director of Education, Dr. techn. Saiful Akbar; ITB Director of Partnerships, Dr. Ir. Endra Gunawan, S.T., M.Sc.; and USTP Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension, Dr. Apolinario B. Gonzaga, Jr.
The MoU outlined collaboration in several areas, including:
- Exchange programs for students, staff, lecturers, and researchers;
- Sharing of institutional information, academic development, teaching methods, and research activities;
- Collaborative programs such as joint workshops, training sessions, webinars, forums, and community engagement among faculty members of both parties; and
- Other academic-related activities mutually agreed upon in the future.
Dr. Apolinario stated that the signing was a meaningful first step in the partnership between USTP and ITB. "Today marks the momentous beginning of USTP and ITB's partnership. This collaboration will cover various areas such as research, global expertise, and student and faculty exchanges," he said.
He hoped that the partnership would encourage innovation in both countries. "I hope this collaboration will strengthen innovation in Indonesia and the Philippines," Dr. Apolinario added.
Meanwhile, Dr. Saiful Akbar expressed that ITB wholeheartedly welcomed the collaboration. "I believe and hope that we can expand this partnership to include other activities," he said.
Dr. Endra Gunawan also shared his optimism, affirming that the MoU was a good starting point for the relationship between the two universities. "[This MoU] is a starting point for us to build a strong connection," he concluded.
