BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Bandung Melangkah joined the West Java Integrated Entrepreneur Hub 2025, a program by the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), held at the East Hall of ITB’s Ganesha Campus on Tuesday–Wednesday, September 17–18, 2025. Their participation marked a key step in introducing the sustainable city movement to a wider public while highlighting the university’s active role in fostering an inclusive and competitive entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Oloan Ivan Daniel, an ITB MBA student and Head of Festival & Market for Bandung Melangkah, shared that the community is built on three core values: sustainability, cultural heritage, and community empowerment. “We aim to showcase environmental conservation and Bandung’s cultural richness through engaging activities, while also empowering local communities,” he explained.

Eco Walk: Exploring Nature and City Heritage

Bandung Melangkah will host its main event, the Eco Walk, a leisurely walk along conservation and heritage trails in Taman Hutan Raya (Tahura) Ir. H. Djuanda on October 25–26, 2025. Participants will enjoy the beauty of the urban forest while discovering historical landmarks such as the Dutch Cave and Japanese Cave. Designed to encourage people to slow down and connect with nature, the activity also highlights the importance of environmental conservation and the preservation of Bandung’s cultural heritage.

Ivan emphasized that the Eco Walk is more than just physical activity—it is also an educational journey. “The concept is slowing down, enjoying nature while learning about the city’s cultural heritage,” he explained. By blending recreation and learning, the Eco Walk aims to foster collective awareness of the need to balance urban development with environmental stewardship.

Festival and Market: A Creative Hub for Local Enterprises

Beyond the Eco Walk, Bandung Melangkah presents a Festival and Market as a vibrant space for creative activities and community interaction. At the Tahura entrance area, visitors can join yoga sessions, sustainability workshops, waste-sorting education, and a “Langkah Talk” discussion series. Traditional music performances, regional dances, and angklung games will enliven the atmosphere, celebrating the richness of local art and culture.

The festival also serves as a platform to empower micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Participating vendors share the same vision, offering everything from healthy culinary creations to artisanal crafts and eco-friendly products. “We invited many community-based vendors to strengthen the MSME network while showcasing local products that embrace sustainability,” said Ivan. Through this initiative, Bandung Melangkah acts as a bridge between local entrepreneurs and the wider public.

Education and Community Engagement

Bandung Melangkah places strong emphasis on education and community engagement as the foundation of a sustainable city movement. From the planning stages, the team involved environmental groups, art collectives, and youth organizations to help design the activities. This participatory approach ensures each program reflects the community’s needs and builds a shared sense of ownership.

In addition to on-site activities, education is delivered through experience-sharing sessions, thematic discussions, and creative workshops. Participants learn about critical issues such as waste management, water conservation, and reducing carbon footprints. “We want to instill the awareness that change can start with small steps in our own neighborhoods,” Ivan noted. In this way, Bandung Melangkah hopes to create a community that is not only an audience but also a driving force for a greener, more inclusive Bandung.

ITB and Community Collaboration: Building a Sustainable Ecosystem

Bandung Melangkah’s presence at the West Java Integrated Entrepreneur Hub 2025 reflects the strong support of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) in fostering an inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem. The program provides a strategic platform to expand networks and invite collaboration among academics, business players, and creative communities to generate positive impacts for the city of Bandung.

Although the Bandung Melangkah brand was officially launched in 2025, it is firmly rooted in the long-standing Eco Walk tradition organized by the Ƶ of Business and Management community. “We hope various ITB units will participate so the positive impact can continue to grow,” Ivan concluded. This collaboration between the university and the community serves as a living example of urban development that values the environment, honors cultural heritage, and empowers local communities in a sustainable way.
