BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - The 2025 Architecture Exhibition, titled Lost in Wonderland, was successfully held at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) on August 19, 2025. The event, hosted at the Architecture Gallery, Labtek IXB, ITB Ganesha Campus, served as a platform for the Architecture Class of 2024 to showcase creative ideas and innovative solutions to spatial challenges within the campus environment. The exhibition was part of the Architecture Class of 2024’s collective initiative, designed to foster responsibility, solidarity, and visual communication skills.

The exhibition not only presented design works but also served as a space to apply Design Thinking. Students were encouraged not only to produce aesthetically appealing projects, but also to identify real issues on campus and propose relevant solutions. This approach strengthened camaraderie while cultivating a sense of community and belonging.

Preparation for the exhibition involved site analysis across various areas of the ITB Ganesha Campus. Each student group selected a specific location, identified its shortcomings, and proposed innovative solutions. One group, for example, highlighted the lack of adequate lighting along the boulevard.

“Through this exhibition, we not only learned how to design but also to understand what is lacking in a space and how simple innovations can make it more functional. For example, we found that the campus boulevard felt dimly lit, so we sought to provide a better lighting solution,” explained Sinar, a student from the Architecture Class of 2024.

The works on display were the result of collaborative efforts by the Class of 2024, divided into groups according to their interest in specific sites or buildings. Object selection was carried out through internal discussions, enabling each group to focus on issues they considered significant. This process also formed an integral part of architectural education, preparing students before they advance into organizational roles within the student association.

With the spirit of exploration reminiscent of Wonderland, the exhibition demonstrated that architecture is not only about aesthetics but also about functionality, sustainability, and creating inclusive spatial experiences. The works of ITB Architecture Class of 2024 are expected to inspire and open new perspectives on the role of architecture in addressing the needs of both the campus and the wider community.
