BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – The Chemical Engineering Student Association (HIMATEK) of ITB held a blood donation event, "Himablood," at the Student Lounge Labtek X, ITB Ganesha Campus, on Thursday (18/9/2025).
The event was a collaboration between HIMATEK ITB, the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Bandung, and was supported by medical staff from Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital (RSHS), who provided free health checks for all participants.
Zebina Amaiza Winetaputri, the person in charge of Himablood, stated that through this event, HIMATEK ITB aims to invite all ITB students to participate and make a tangible contribution to others.
"Indonesia has a fairly high rate of thalassemia, so the hope is that people can become more aware that our blood is incredibly useful for others. In addition, blood donation also offers health benefits for donors, such as improving blood circulation and helping to maintain heart health," she explained.

This blood donation event is one of several programs organized by HIMATEK ITB's Social Service Division. Rania Aydin Athifa, the head of the division, explained that in addition to Himablood, they routinely hold other programs.
"Besides Himablood, we have other programs like Himacare, a quarterly donation event. There's also Himberbag, which involves direct visits to specific orphanages or foundations. We also have Himateach, a program for teaching children, which for the last three years has been held at a village hall. And finally, there's Hima-Ex, a program that collaborates with external parties, like last year when we worked with River Clean up to clean up rivers," she said.
Rania hopes the event will help all participants, especially HIMATEK ITB members, to develop empathy and care for the community.
