ITB and IMT Atlantique Explore Strategic Collaboration in Education and Innovation

Bandung, itb.ac.id — Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) hosted a delegation from IMT Atlantique, France, as part of efforts to strengthen international collaboration in higher education and research. The meeting took place on Thursday, May 8, 2025 in Meeting Room A, ITB Rectorate.

IMT Atlantique is a leading engineering education institution in France and a member of the Institut Mines-Télécom network. Established in 2017, IMT Atlantique has campuses in Brest, Nantes, and Rennes, and is renowned for its excellence in the fields of energy, information technology, and environmental studies.

In his welcoming remarks, ITB Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., expressed appreciation for the visit from IMT Atlantique and stated his readiness to discuss potential collaboration opportunities between the two educational institutions.

“We are ready to follow up on today’s discussion soon, as a demonstration of ITB’s commitment to establishing a strategic partnership,” said Prof. Tata.

IMT Atlantique President Christophe Lerouge also appreciated ITB’s warm welcome and emphasized their desire to build a long-term collaboration comprising student exchanges, joint research, and innovation development.

“We see great potential to strengthen this collaboration moving forward,” he said.

One of the main topics discussed was ITB’s accelerated undergraduate and master’s study program designed to be completed within five years. This program is considered to have potential for joint development with international partners such as IMT Atlantique, including opportunities for final-year ITB students to participate in exchange programs integrated with internships and credit transfers.

Additionally, the two institutions discussed opportunities for collaboration in the field of renewable energy, particularly biomass. Welcoming the potential entry of French investors into Indonesia, ITB offered the utilization of its Science Technopark (STP) facilities as a center for research collaboration and technological innovation.

ITB’s Director of Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Elfahmi, S.Si., M.Si., affirmed ITB’s readiness to develop concrete collaboration with IMT Atlantique in the field of strategic research with broad impact.

This meeting marks the initial step in building a sustainable partnership between ITB and IMT Atlantique, which is expected to strengthen the higher education and innovation ecosystem based on global collaborative efforts.
