BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - From May 18 to 21, 2025, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) had the privilege to host the 2025 IIE Global Engineering Education Exchange (IIE Global E3) Annual Meeting, which also marked its 30th Anniversary of the consortium. The hosting of the annual meeting was a result of a proposal call by the Institute of International Education (IIE), which manages the IIE Global E3.
Welcoming participants from various institutions and countries, the annual meeting started off with the Executive Committee Meeting on May 18 at ITB’s International Relations Office Building, followed by a brief tour of Bandung and an art workshop at NuArt Bandung. Ending the day was the Welcome Reception, also at NuArt Bandung. On May 19, the meeting was organized at the Savoy Homann Bandung in order to showcase some of the historic places in the city center while the remaining two days (May 20 and May 21) were organized in the East Hall of the Ganesha Campus of ITB. Throughout the program, there were keynote speeches from Prof. Edwan Kardena and from PT. Pertamina Persero, presentations and sharing sessions by members of the IIE Global E3, cultural performances, and tours of the campus and Lembang (visiting the Tangkuban Parahu Mountain and the Bosscha Observatory on May 21, where the entire program ended).
To celebrate the IIE Global E3’s 30th Anniversary, a gala dinner was organized in the evening of May 19. Featured in the gala dinner were cultural and music performances, including engagement with the attendees where some showcased their musicality in a fun way. Tribute videos and merchandises were prepared to celebrate the occasion.
Led by Andika Putra Pratama, PhD. (Head of International Collaborative Affairs in the Directorate of Partnerships) and orchestrated with the team, the hosting of the annual meeting aimed to put ITB on the spot and on the map that would hopefully allow for other IIE Global E3 members to consider sending their students to ITB for a short-term, 1 semester, exchange. For the past few years, ITB has managed to send students abroad under the IIE Global E3 consortium on a tuition waived basis. Nevertheless, more efforts needed to be made to welcome international students on campus under the consortium. In this way, ITB also helps the goal of the IIE Global E3 consortium to create a healthy balance of student mobility, in and out.
The program concluded with intimate notes from the IIE Global E3 members to ITB for the hosting of the event and all participants and everyone involved, signifying the memorable bonding developing throughout the program and its preparation that further elevated the consortium as a one-of-a-kind network in promoting global education and diplomacy.
