BANYUWANGI, itb.ac.id – To promote the development of a mangrove-based blue economy, students from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and Universitas Brawijaya (UB) have initiated a community empowerment program for local Small and Medium Enterprisess in Banyuwangi. The initiative focuses on diversifying mangrove resources into high-value products such as chips, tea, coffee, syrup, and flour.

This collaborative program brings together lecturers from multiple institutions: Miga Meganika Julian, S.T., M.T. Beyond the training sessions, the program also incorporates post-program monitoring to ensure long-term sustainability. The community has already benefited from improved marketing channels for mangrove-based Small and Medium Enterprises, allowing their products to reach wider audiences.

“We hope this initiative will inspire other regions to explore mangrove utilization and cultivation, not only for economic benefits but also for environmental sustainability,” said Ayomi Rais, an ITB student participating in the program.
