BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) collaborated to organize the Entrepreneur Expo at the East Auditorium, ITB Ganesha Campus, from Tuesday to Wednesday (September 17-18, 2025). This event served as a platform featuring works and innovations from selected entrepreneurs across West Java, while also highlighting the entrepreneurial potential of students. Among the captivating innovations presented was Maore, a multifunctional foldable bag business founded by Mochammad Ariq Syah (Industrial Engineering, 2022) with Muhammad Riyandika Priyatna (Industrial Engineering, 2022) as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).
Maore, established in late December 2023, was born from Ariq's observations of student habits. "Many students want to carry a few items but find it troublesome to use a large, cumbersome bag," explained Riyandika, outlining the motivation behind Maore's inception. Addressing this issue, Maore offers an innovative foldable bag solution that can transform from a backpack or tote bag into a compact pouch when not in use.
Maore products not only prioritize the convenience of being foldable but are also designed with ample volume. This ensures the bags remain functional for carrying various student essentials, including laptops/iPads, books, wallets, stationery, and other gear. Another key functional advantage is the use of water-resistant material, making Maore products durable in diverse weather conditions. In addition to foldable backpacks and tote bags, Maore also offers other product variants such as card holders, lanyards, handbags, sling bags, and sling pouches.

To reach its market, Maore actively leverages social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, and is available on e-commerce platforms Tokopedia and Shopee. Riyandika revealed that beyond digital promotions, "word-of-mouth recommendations have a very significant impact in reaching our market." The choice of bags as their primary product is based on a broad market potential and relevant demand.
Currently, the Maore team consists of 15 individuals, 12 of whom are skilled tailors contributing to production. Moving forward, Maore plans to focus its marketing efforts through its own website. "Especially for Shopee, which is already a Star Seller, the fee deduction can reach around 19% per purchase, even up to 21% during special 'twin date' promotions. Therefore, we are taking the initiative to create our own website," explained Riyandika. Although there are website subscription costs, this step is expected to optimize profits for Maore.
Maore is also a recipient of funding from the Student Entrepreneurship Program (PMW), facilitated by the ITB Career Center. These funds are utilized for further business development, accompanied by intensive guidance from expert mentors in entrepreneurship. This mentorship helps the Maore team in developing strategies and addressing challenges.
The name "Maore" itself holds a profound philosophy: "Ma" is derived from Mochammad Ariq, "O" symbolizes an unending flow of blessings, and "Re" signifies that every effort will surely yield a reaction or result. The story of Maore is a tangible example of how ITB student innovation can address market needs with practical and functional solutions.
