BANDUNG, itb.ac.id — The Student Family of Institut Teknologi Bandung (KM ITB) officially opened the 2025 Orientation of Student Family Studies (OSKM) on August 25–28, 2025, at ITB’s Jatinangor Campus. OSKM is part of the Centralized Initial Formation Program (Kaderisasi Awal Terpusat/KAT), serving as an important milestone for new students as they begin their academic journey at ITB.
Beyond being a welcoming program, OSKM is designed as a transformative gateway that guides students in their transition from high school graduates into academic citizens ready to contribute to the nation. The activities instill values of togetherness, sharpen leadership skills, and cultivate the mindset of lifelong learners.

The opening ceremony was attended by ITB Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T.; Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Irwan Meilano, S.T., M.Sc.; Director of Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. apt. Muhamad Insanu, S.Si., M.Si.; school deans; faculty leaders; and other members of ITB’s leadership. A total of 5,053 new students took part in the program, supported by around 2,500 committee members.
In his address, the Rector emphasized the importance of a healthy campus life as the foundation of lifelong learning. “From here begins your journey—a journey that will shape not only your knowledge but also your character. Let us create a healthy campus life: healthy in mind, body, values, emotions, will, and creativity,” said Prof. Tata.

Farrel Faiz Firmansyah, President of KM ITB 2025/2026, encouraged new students to embrace the process ahead.
“Critical thinking, adaptability, and initiative are the essentials in shaping the true identity of an academic citizen: a lifelong learner. Someone who never stops learning, even long after the graduation gown has been taken off,” he said.
Meanwhile, Erwan Poltak Halomoan, Chair of OSKM ITB 2025, emphasized that OSKM is not just a welcoming ritual but a crucial first step in shaping students’ character.

“OSKM ITB is more than a series of welcoming events—it is an essential starting point to understand academic life and student engagement at ITB. Through comprehensive programs ranging from talk shows and inspirational seminars to explorations of student organizations, we aim to develop lifelong learners with character, collaboration skills, and readiness to grow actively within the campus community,” Erwan explained.
With the theme “KAT ITB as a Momentum for Lifelong Learning Toward Intellectual Independence,” OSKM 2025 is expected to serve as the starting milestone for ITB’s new students to grow, contribute, and achieve excellence both nationally and globally.
