BANDUNG, itb.ac.id — Team Dore Bullion, which consists of students from the Mining Engineering Undergraduate Program, Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering (FMPE), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), achieved victory at the Siginjai Mining Competition, held at Universitas Jambi from April 28 to May 3, 2025.
The Siginjai Mining Competition is an annual national-level practical mining competition organized by Universitas Jambi. This year marks the second time the competition was held. It was attended by students from six universities across Indonesia, which are Institut Teknologi Bandung, Universitas Jambi, Universitas Muslim Indonesia, Universitas Bangka Belitung, Universitas Syiah Kuala, and Universitas Muara Bungo.
Team Dore Bullion consists of five members and one manager. The team members are Ilham Mubarok (Mining Engineering, class of 2022), Rafi Naufal Syah (Mining Engineering, class of 2022), Revina Elisabeth Permata Sari (Mining Engineering, class of 2022), Muhammad Farhan Nurrahman (Mining Engineering, class of 2023), and Jovan Adrian (Mining Engineering, class of 2023), alongside Fandi Parada Nasution (Mining Engineering, class of 2022) serving as the team manager.
In this event, Dore Bullion earned second place overall in the practical mining competition, which consisted of six categories. The team secured victories in five out of six categories: Mining Smart Competition, Bench Blasting, Tie-in, Mine Planning, and Mine Surveying.
Their success did not come overnight without the time and effort that they had poured in. Team Dore Bullion began training as early as February 2025. Their training covered both theoretical materials and practical exercises, including the use of mining instruments.
One of the team members, Ilham, shared three key factors behind receiving their award. These factors are an equal distribution of tasks among the members, mutual trust in the team, and strong interpersonal communication built through their close bond.
Without a doubt, their journey was not finished without challenges. “We feel quite happy and proud to have given our best effort and performance despite the many challenges that we faced, such as the unpredictable weather, tight academic schedules, and more,” said Rafi, one of the team members.

“The competition atmosphere felt very competitive and we definitely felt nervous, especially since this was our first time competing in a practical mining event. There were times when we felt uneasy. We remember one of the most challenging moments while competing was when we managed to outperform other teams with senior and more seasoned participants — even though we had not yet taken many of the subjects featured in the competition,” said Revina, of the members.
Rafi added that the team is determined to continue pushing efforts and pursuing victories in many future practical mining competitions. They explained that their next target is to win the annual practical mining competition that will be held at Universitas Sriwijaya and Institut Teknologi Bandung.
Ilham also expressed his gratitude for their victory as it is not without the support they received from fellow members of HMT-ITB, as well as from ITB itself, particularly the Mining Engineering Undergraduate Program, which provided support both in training and materials.
Finally, Revina explained that through the competition, they have acquired many interesting reflections. She also encouraged fellow ITB students not to be afraid of trying new experiences, emphasizing that competitions are not only about winning or losing, but also about learning, growing, and stepping outside their comfort zone — because that is where true growth begins.
