BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) held SEMARAK (Synergy for Modern, Adaptive, Creative, and Impactful Education) on Thursday (10/7/2025) at the East and West Halls of the ITB Ganesha Campus. This event served as both an exhibition and a talk show, highlighting educational innovations that make a tangible impact on society and industry

ITB Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Irwan Meilano, S.T., M.Sc., stated that the 2024 curriculum implemented at ITB was strategically designed to provide higher education that is responsive to the times and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration. With a flexible structure—including ITB core courses, major-specific courses, and free electives—students are given the opportunity to broaden their academic horizons.

Prof. Irwan also mentioned that ITB continues to attract international students through partnerships with many countries. The programs are aligned with the principle of being locally relevant and globally respected, thereby expanding the university's contribution to both national and global development.

"Let us use this moment to enhance the quality of education, research, and innovation, fostering national independence through impactful transformation and internationalization," he said.

In line with this, Acting Director of Learning and Student Affairs at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Dr. Berry Juliandi, S.Si., M.Si., emphasized that higher education must be adaptive to both local and global dynamics.

Education is a powerful force that can change the course of life—not only economically, but also socially, culturally, and in terms of community empowerment. Impactful learning goes beyond academic achievement; it is about applying knowledge to solve real-world problems.

"Problem-solving, social, process-oriented, and systems thinking skills will be among the most in-demand core competencies in the future workforce," he stated.

The concept and principles of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) have become one of the key approaches to impactful learning. This ensures that education focuses on measurable and meaningful learning outcomes.

Educational Innovation Exhibition

The event also featured an educational innovation exhibition from ITB’s faculties and schools, student projects from the Introduction to Engineering and Design course, as well as multimedia studio and learning management system facilities.

The exhibition showcased various technologies, innovations, and community service initiatives that provide direct solutions to societal challenges.

In addition, panel discussions were held featuring Prof. Dr. Ichsan Setya Putra from the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD ITB), who spoke on “Strategies for Impactful Learning in Higher Education,” and Dr. Eng. Ayu Purwarianti, S.T., M.T. from the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STEI ITB), who discussed “The Role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Educational Process.”

The event attracted nearly 1,000 visitors, including ITB’s academic community, high school students, students and lecturers from other universities, and members of the general public.

Through SEMARAK ITB 2025, ITB reaffirms its commitment to developing a higher education ecosystem that is adaptive, collaborative, and aligned with the demands of the times.
