BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek), in collaboration with the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), is holding the Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI) 2025, from August 7-9, 2025, at the Ganesha Cultural Centre [Sasana Budaya Ganesa] (Sabuga) ITB.
This event carries the theme, “Science and Technology for Economic Growth and Equity.” This national and international scale forum is expected to be a catalyst for Indonesia's economic transformation based on science and technology as a strategic step towards the Golden Indonesia [Indonesia Emas] 2045 vision.
The convention will bring together more than 3,000 participants from various backgrounds, including 1,000 scientists, over 300 university rectors, and students from undergraduate to doctoral programs. KSTI 2025 will also feature an exhibition from eight national priority sectors: energy, defense, digitalization, downstreaming, health, food, maritime, as well as advanced materials and manufacturing.
The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, is scheduled to attend the KSTI 2025 event, in support of strengthening the national research and technology ecosystem.
The event will also feature seven cabinet ministers, CEOs of state-owned enterprises (BUMN), and two Nobel laureates scheduled to be keynote speakers. KSTI 2025 is part of the government's strategic move to strengthen the foundation for Golden Indonesia 2045 through the development of a national industry based on science, research, and technological innovation.
The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek), Brian Yuliarto, highlighted the urgency of strengthening national technological capacity and talent as the foundation for transformation towards a knowledge-based economy. With its potential in strategic natural resources, Indonesia has a great opportunity for downstreaming and making a leap towards high-value-added industrialisation. This transformation is believed to be a key step in strengthening the nation's competitiveness and achieving sustainable economic independence.
The Director-General of Research and Development of Kemdiktisaintek, Dr. Mohammad Fauzan Adziman, S.T., M.Eng., stated the importance of synergy among stakeholders in building a solid and globally competitive innovation ecosystem.
“KSTI 2025 is not just a discussion forum, but a starting point for a national movement to build an industrialisation ecosystem based on scientific knowledge. We want to ensure that research and technology does not just stop in the laboratory, but is transformed into concrete solutions for the nation's economy,” said Director-General Fauzan.
In this context, KSTI 2025 also serves as a space for drafting a national strategic industry roadmap, a systematic step to address the transformational needs from a resource-extraction-based economy towards a high-value-added industry.
As the host of KSTI 2025, The Rector of ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T. stated that this convention affirms the important position of higher education institutions as the driving force of national research and innovation.
"We are committed to encouraging the integration of campuses, the industrial world, and public policy, so that innovation born from higher education becomes increasingly relevant to national development," he expressed.
KSTI 2025 is expected not only to produce supportive multi-sector policies but also to strengthen the academic reputation and global competitiveness of higher education institutions in Indonesia.
KSTI 2025 is not only aimed at formulating supportive multisector policies, but also at enhancing the academic reputation and global competitiveness of higher education institutions in Indonesia. Through a penta-helix approach, which involves synergy among the government, industry, academia, the community, and the media, the convention serves as a strategic step toward realising inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
