BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) collaborated with Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) to organize the West Java Integrated Entrepreneur Hub 2025, held at the West and East Halls of the ITB’s Ganesha Campus on Wednesday-Thursday (September 17-18, 2025). The event featured a public lecture, inspirational talk shows, and an Entrepreneur Expo showcasing selected entrepreneurial works and innovations from West Java. One of the entrepreneurial works on display was that of ITB students, namely Salva Perfumery, a perfume brand created by Agatbe Thymoty Sihombing (Management, 2023), Ahmad Wildan Aryana (Management, 2023), and Dionisius Viandi Putra (Management, 2023).

Salva Perfumery originated from one of the assignments in a course at the Ƶ of Business and Management (SBM). The perfume industry was chosen as the focus of the business because, despite the numerous perfume brands in Indonesia, they still lack differentiation. Salva Perfumery itself focuses on floral perfumes that are comfortable to use as daily fragrances.

In the initial phase, three perfume variants with distinct scents—aquatic, sweet, and floral—were launched to test hypotheses and identify market preferences. After conducting research on over 300 respondents, the floral variant with its fresh and light character proved to be the most popular. Based on these results, Salva Perfumery decided to focus on creating everyday perfumes with fresh, light, and non-overpowering scents, providing comfort not only to users but also to those around them.

"Salva's main innovation is creating perfumes specifically designed for the daily needs of highly mobile urban communities. The scent is fresh and not overpowering, supporting productivity without disturbing others," explained Thymoty.

During the development of Salva Perfumery, the team collaborated with local perfumers in Bandung to formulate the scent. To ensure product quality and safety, the team obtained distribution permits from Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) and intellectual property rights (IPR) protection. The product was officially launched commercially at the ITB Entrepreneur Expo after approximately four months of preparation.

The decision to continue the business, which began as a college assignment, was born out of the high market response since the trial phase. “It would be a shame to stop just as a college assignment, especially since there is high demand and the resources are already there. So we agreed to continue and develop Salva,” said Thymoty.

As a message to other students interested in entrepreneurship, the team emphasized the importance of courage to start and consistency in facing challenges. “If you want to start a business, just begin. Every problem will inevitably arise. However, that’s where problem-solving skills and creativity are tested. If you can overcome them one by one, the opportunities for growth will become greater,” concluded Thymoty.
