BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - An ITB student team, MTAF Impact, has won 1st Place in the Student Category at the Hackathon BI-OJK 2025. The victory was announced at the Indonesia Digital Economy and Finance Festival & Indonesia Fintech Summit (FEKDI x IFSE) at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC) on Saturday, November 1, 2025.

Team MTAF Impact consists of students from the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STEI), including Marvel Subekti, Timothy Subekti, and Kinanti Wening Asih from Information Systems and Technology, as well as Muhammad Fadhil Amri from Informatics Engineering. The team name "MTAF" is an acronym for its members' names (Marvel, Timothy, Asih, Fadhil), while "Impact" represents their goal to make a positive impact through innovation.

"UMKM SIAP" Solution Based on AI

The solution that led them to victory is "UMKM SIAP," a web-based smart export consultant powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI). This innovation is designed to help Indonesian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) penetrate the global market by simplifying the export preparation process.

The team highlighted data showing that out of 65.5 million MSMEs in Indonesia, only about 15.7% have successfully exported. This figure is far from the government's target and the achievements of other Asian countries. Meanwhile, MSMEs contribute 61% to the national GDP.

"The solution we offer can increase inclusivity by assisting MSMEs in going international," the team explained.

To address this challenge, UMKM SIAP implements AI/ML technology in several key features, namely:

• Chatbot and Document Compliance Checking
• Market Intelligence (using LLM for data extraction and summarization)
• B2B Automatching (using a recommendation system to recommend buyers)

A 5-Month Journey and Development Challenges

The competition lasted for almost five months, starting with the kickoff on June 5, 2025. Team MTAF Impact successfully passed the proposal elimination stage, the semifinals, and reached the final round, which lasted for two months to develop a prototype.

In the final round, they competed against teams from Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Gadjah Mada, and BINUS University. The biggest challenges they faced were the limited development time and the team members' busy schedules outside the competition, such as final thesis, internships, and even full-time jobs, which meant that product iterations, increments, and refinements had to be done very quickly.

According to Marvel, the main advantage of their solution was the urgency of the problem addressed, "related to the difficulty for MSMEs to penetrate the global market through export activities." Furthermore, their solution was presented as an integrated ecosystem, not just a single feature solving a single problem.

"Not a Finish Line, But a Starting Line"

When announced as the winners, the team felt "happy, proud, grateful, and shocked all mixed together." For them, this victory has a deep meaning.

"For us, this victory is not just an achievement, but a validation," said Timothy. "A validation that the MSME problem we raised is very real. We don't see this victory as a finish line, but as a starting line," added Asih.

Team MTAF Impact plans to continue developing the "UMKM SIAP" solution to make a real impact. They are also grateful that the competition process facilitated meetings with several potential users for further development.

In closing, Fadhil had a message for other young innovators. "Innovation is never born from comfort. It is born from the courage to 'try'. Winning or losing is a bonus. The real victory is when you dare to step out of discomfort or fear and are ready to form an idea to make a change."
