Promoting a Sustainability Concept, Rector Inaugurates ITB Multicampus Canteen Outlet

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – The Rector of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., officially inaugurated the ITB Multicampus Canteen Outlet at the Basement Canteen of the ITB Library, Ganesha Campus, on Thursday (May 8, 2025).

In his remarks, Prof. Tata stated that the presence of this canteen outlet is not only to meet the consumption needs of the academic community but also reflects ITB's commitment to creating a healthy, inclusive, and sustainable campus ecosystem.

"This canteen outlet is designed with a strong emphasis on sustainability principles, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in providing nutritious, hygienic, affordable, and environmentally friendly food," he said.

The canteen is located at the West Campus Center of ITB Ganesha Campus.

The selection of outlet management partners went through a rigorous curation process by the team, including direct surveys of food and beverage providers to ensure that ITB’s quality and sustainability standards across multicampus locations are met.

In total, there are 19 outlets spread across 7 canteens located at ITB Ganesha Campus (West Campus Center, Library Basement, Ex-PAU Warehouse), Jatinangor Campus (TB2 Dormitory, TB3 Dormitory, GKU 3), and Cirebon Campus (Building A, Building B). Altogether, these canteens have a total seating capacity of 1,384 people.

Besides sustainability, another interesting feature of this canteen is the presence of Livin' KIOSK, a digital ordering device supported by Bank Mandiri, designed to provide a more efficient and modern transaction experience.

Prof. Tata invited all outlet management partners to make the canteen a space for interaction and excellent service for students, lecturers, and staff. "Let’s make this canteen a symbol of the spirit of collaboration and innovation at ITB—a campus that excels and makes an impact," he said.

Prof. Tata also expressed his appreciation to the initiators, who were leaders during the ITB Rectorate period 2020-2025, namely Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D. He extended his thanks to all parties who have worked hard from the construction, renovation, to the allocation of canteen facilities. Also present at the occasion were the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs (Bahasa: Wakil Rektor Bidang Akademik, WRAM) for the 2020-2025 period, Prof. Dr. Jaka Sembiring, M.Eng., and the Vice Rector for University Resources (Bahasa: Wakil Rektor Bidang Sumber Daya, WRSD) for the 2020-2025 period, Dr. Ir. Gusti Ayu Putri Saptawati S., M.Comm. Nila Mayta Dwi Rihandjani, Regional CEO of Bank Mandiri Region VI/Jawa 1, along with representatives from several outlet partners such as Loko Canteen (PT KAI), Sarae Bakes, and other guests, were also in attendance.
