BANDUNG, itb.ac.id — Rector of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., called on ITB alumni to continue giving their active contribution to national development, particularly in handling local and national challenges. One of the issues that was highlighted was the ongoing waste problem in the city of Bandung.
During the “IA-ITB (ITB Alumni Association) 2025 Election Socialization” held at Pendopo Kota Bandung on Sunday, June 1, 2025, Prof. Tata invited alumni to take part in efforts to address the city’s waste issues, aligning it with ITB’s role as an academic institution committed to sustainable development.
“Let’s support waste management efforts in the city of Bandung. This means that ITB also takes part in the solution. Collaboration is crucial to find solutions,” said Prof. Tatacipta.
He further added that ITB alumni hold a strategic role in advancing the university’s performance and reputation, both at the national and international levels.
The event was also attended by the Mayor of Bandung City, Muhammad Farhan, along with several members of the alumni community. In his speech, Mayor Farhan expressed appreciation for the significant role that ITB alumni have played in the country’s development.
“ITB alumni are chosen individuals who have, are, and will continue to make meaningful contributions to national progress,” he said.
He also noted that the values of knowledge, integrity, and network-building cultivated during their time at ITB have transformed into a tangible force for a concrete change in society.
According to him, the election of the IA-ITB President is not merely an internal democratic process within the organization, but also a reflection of the spirit of unity, mutual cooperation, and active participation of all alumni in building our nation.
As the city where ITB was founded, the government of the city of Bandung affirmed its readiness to continue working hand-in-hand with ITB alumni to support various strategic initiatives.
The involvement of ITB alumni in local development is expected to be further strengthened through collaborative efforts that bring real benefits to society—serving as a clear embodiment of ITB’s contribution to building a better future for Indonesia.
